Washington, D.C. (July 22, 2010) — CQ-Roll Call Group, the nation’s leading provider of news, analysis and information on Congress, today announced that Jessica Brady and Stacey Skotzko have been selected by the National Press Foundation as 2010-2011 Paul Miller Washington Reporting Fellows.
Brady and Skotzko will dedicate one day a month for nine months to intensive study of a wide variety of issues, processes, agencies, policy leaders and institutions in Washington. The program is aimed at helping journalists unlock the intricacies of the federal government so that they can better report the complicated news coming out of Washington.
“We are very proud of Jessica’s and Stacey’s selection to this unique and valuable program,” said Mike Mills, senior vice president and editorial director for CQ-Roll Call. “In years past, several of our reporters have received this fellowship and it has always been enriching for them and for our organization.”
The fellowship was created in 1987 in honor of its namesake, a former president and chairman of the Gannett Co. Inc. and the Associated Press. The National Press Foundation began operating the program in 2000, with the assistance of a financial grant from the Freedom Forum.
Jessica Brady is a staff writer at Roll Call and covers the Senate. Prior to joining the leadership team in 2008, she profiled elected officials and wrote human interest stories as the paper’s features writer. Jessica previously worked as a reporter for CongressDaily and also spent time as a researcher for the Almanac of American Politics.
Stacey Skotzko is a legislative researcher for CQ-Roll Call, working for the BillTrack product. She joined CQ in September 2008, working for the Top Docs product. After collecting, analyzing and processing governmental letters, amendments and reports, she moved at the start of 2010 to monitoring floor action and gathering information on pending legislation. Stacey also contributes to CQ’s Politics in America, the BillAnalysis product and CQ Weekly’s Vantage Point section, in addition to writing a weekly column for Congress.org on pending legislation.
